Individual Therapy

Indivdual therapy is where a member works with a therapist in a “one on one” setting. Indivdual therapy has many benefits and is applied based on client choice or as clinically indicated through assessment and treatment planning. Indivdual therapy provides members with a stable, comfortable and private setting where the most personal discussions can occur. Current evidence based best practices recommends the following therapies for Occupational Stress Injury and trauma related disorders.

The following therapies are used in a one on one setting:

  • Exposure Therapy
  • Prolonged Exposure (PE)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy
  • Systemic psychotherapies

Individual therapy sessions range from 50 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the therapy model used. The number of sessions per week is determined by assessment, individual time schedule (ie: shift work) and other factors.
